GOD is with us
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
This is the verse of the day on Biblegateway.com. It kind of relates to what I was talking about yesterday. God is saying, I told you what to do - i commanded you. Therefore there is no reason to hesitate or fear. Be strong and full of courage knowing that you are doing as I have commanded. I have made you a promise - you have no reason to fear. And if ever you stumble or forget - I am with you wherever you go. I will be there to catch you if you fall.
This is what I mean by the great comfort that comes with being familiar with scripture. God HAS commanded us. If we follow those commands there is no reason to fear. There is no reason to tread lightly when we are obeying the word of God. We must be strong and courageous - for HE is with us wherever we go!
A verse very near this one says:3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. This verse reminds me of an amazing missionary I hear speak at a conference. She has an overwhelming passion for serving the people of North Korea. But this is not a place to serve openly. But she knows the power of the word of God and the power of prayer. Remembering this verse - she wrote it on the soles of her shoes one day and prayed earnestly wherever she walked, Lord God give us this place. May we claim this land for YOU.
It takes courage to share God in a place that it is forbidden. Sometimes that place is much closer. Sometimes it might not be illegal - but it is still not allowed. May we overcome the things that hinder us. May we be strong and courageous. For the LORD is with us wherever we go!
