missions
Carla and I have been praying for over a year now - before we even got engaged, about being on the mission field. We feel confident that it is going to happen at some point. "When?" Is the big question. It's a tough question that we can't necessarily answer. We don't want to rush onto the field - we want God to send us there. We want him to prepare us for it. We want to follow his timing. "Where?" Is the other big question. That's part of what we are waiting for. We don't know yet. Wherever God wants us.
This summer is exciting for us. We are visiting Taiwan together. While it's very short - I pray that God will use this experience to bring us clarity. I pray that he will show us the hearts of the missionaries and their passion. I pray that he will help us to better understand what it means to be a missionary.
We are visiting Taiwan during the team's sport and English camp. We are excited to see how they do it. It's a huge event that fills up within about an hour once they start registration. With my background as a Taekwondo Instructor I'm very curious to see sports used for missions. It's a common approach - but I have never done it or seen it first hand.
We are excited about this short trip and pray that we will be useful and that we can learn and grow. Carla will of course be writing a story about the experience. She will interview the missionaries and share their stories in the 2013 TELL magazine. We pray that this trip will end up affecting not just our own hearts but the thousands of people who read her article as well.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from God about our future in missions. We will keep you updated and would love for you to be a part of the journey. Stay up to date at teamexpansion.org/jcandcarla
