a prayer

Dear God,

It is a new week filled with the same challenges and I'm sure new ones to add. I'm glad that I have you to lean on, and thankful. But I really hope to do less leaning. I hope to do less surviving. It seems sad to look at a week as a checklist of responsibilities and obstacles. I would much rather see it as a week of opportunity. I would much rather you be my vehicle propelling me forward than my chair that keeps me comfortable as I stay in place. I know you feel the same.

So maybe God, you could build the car around me? I'll stay right where I am and you can simply build a vehicle to take me where you want me to go! I know, it doesn't work like that. I won't learn much by being stagnant. I won't change much by allowing you to do all the work.

I pray that you will give me vision and inspiration. Help me to see your plans and know how they work. Help me to build my own vehicle and to do new things for you. I may not need to physically go anywhere -- maybe my relationships just need to go deeper or my love just needs to go further. Help me to see the way you do.

Help me to not "get through" the week. Help me to live it. For you. And for your glory.
