In preparation for Easter I am writing 20 minutes every morning. I can't guarantee the cohesiveness of what I write, as it will be whatever comes to mind, with minimal edits. I pray that by starting my day reflecting on God, Scripture, or other related thoughts - those thoughts will become actions in my life for God's glory.
I get a taste of this when I teach taekwondo. Not all students listen, not all students learn very fast, not all students show respect. It takes grace and patience to teach them and wisdom to know which method to use. Sometimes I have to be stern. Sometimes I have to be fun. Sometimes I have to be loud. And often I might be wrong.
The biggest advantage of teaching tkd is that it's only 40 minute classes. Then they leave. As a parent my kid will be around constantly. Watching me. Copying me. Inheriting many flaws. It gives me an urgency to this process of sanctification. I want my kids to know the best me. I want them to know the Holy Spirit that moves within. I want to respond to them in a Christlike way.
The choices we make and the person we become will affect generations.
